IBM said today that "plug and play" features of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, pre-loaded on IBM ThinkPad notebooks, enable users to easily add hardware options such as scanners, the IBM UltraPort Camera and the IBM Wireless LAN PC Card to their notebook computers without the need to reboot their systems.
Several of the new IBM ThinkPad models, including the recently announced ThinkPad A Series and ThinkPad T Series, feature Windows 2000 Professional. These new product lines are designed to enhance and simplify the mobile computing experience through easy access to IBM help and information via the "ThinkPad button," and new ease-of-use features, including common swappable components and built-in ports for modem and LAN connections. More than two dozen other ThinkPad systems, including the popular ThinkPad i Series, also support Windows 2000 Professional.
