VIA HArdware has posted the second part of their Intel Developer Forum coverage.



Here we finally get a good look at 4 Fosters in action, along with 4GB of DDR-SDRAM. Also of note is the riser cards seated next to each processor: These are voltage regulation modules, that must be installed with each processor. This way, ServerWorks is able to cut down on costs when the customer only requires 1 or 2 processors, as they won´t have to include the necessary regulation on the motherboard.

The board still has some re-work on it, so its not quite production ready, but kudos to ServerWorks for being ahead of Intel on this one. Without ServerWorks´ DDR platform, Foster would be virtually dead in the water. RDRAM really makes little sense as a serious server memory, mainly because of cost, heat, and latency issues.
