The latest that the chip manufacturer had introduced was the Pentium 4 with 3 GHz, so expectations were running even higher as a video clip from the Intel lab was presented, showing a Pentium 4 with 4000 MHz. A few industry experts took this soberly - actually, they were expecting clock speeds of up to 5 GHz.
