Asus ROG G20AJ Review

Cooler Master Barebones Novatouch Review

Well over a year ago we first had the chance to check out a keyboard from Cooler Master that I had been excited about for a long time, their Novatouch TKL. This was their first Hybrid Capacitive keyboard, they worked closely with Topre to design it with a unique stem design that lets you run keycaps designed for Cherry MX switches on it. This is important because as we found out about a year ago in our Keyboard Customization article, you can do a LOT to set your keyboard apart. So over the past year Cooler Master has been working to show everyone why the Novatouch is different, but at least in my opinion the price has been a bit hard for some people to get over. Well over time the price has some down, but in addition to that they have recently been selling a special Barebones model that brings the price down even more. The barebones Novatouch TKL is specifically for people who already plan on replacing the keycaps with something else, cutting the costs down by selling it without keycaps. Well I got the Barebones Novatouch TKL in as well as a new set of custom keycaps, today I’m going to show you what you can do with the Novatouch and reflect on over a years’ worth of use in the performance section.

Cooler Master MasterCase 5 With Freeform Modular System

Cooler Master was founded in 1992 by one man working out of a rented apartment with his staff being nothing more than a secretary who handled the admin part of the business. Roger (the founder) worked at innovating, inventing building and marketing new products. He had no backing, no corporate bank roll, all he had was a vision of better equipment and was the first to grasp that people would appreciate tool-less motherboard heatsinks and that cooling was more than fans and heatsinks. Roger knew that case cooling was as much about airflow through case as a whole system than just heatsinks and fans. He also challenged his people to make the worlds first aluminum computer case, they were all hand-made market-leading high-value cases and sold out immediately.

Through the years Cooler Master has kept that cutting edge attitude and produced many revolutionary products and in ways lead the chassis industry to the air flow conscious well thought out chassis we take for granted today.

Everything You Need To Know About The NVIDIA Jetson TX1 Performance

While last week we were able to write about the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 development board, at that time we weren't able to share any benchmarks or hands-on experience with this ARM board powered by NVIDIA's Tegra X1 SoC. The embargo on that has now expired and as such this morning there are a lot of benchmarks to share with you. There are many benchmarks looking at different areas of the Jetson TX1 including power consumption and thermal. For kicks I've also done some comparisons against the Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 as well as other ARM hardware like the now defunct Calxeda ARM server and Raspberry Pi 2.

Huawei Shows Off Smartphone Lithium-Ion Batteries Charging in Under Two Minutes Flat!

During a battery conference in Japan over the weekend, the number one smartphone manufacture in China, Huawei showed off its new smartphone battery which is capable of being charged 10 times faster than current batteries on the market. They were advertising a 3000mAh lithium-ion battery that was capable of being charged to nearly 50% in just five minutes and a 600mAh battery that was capable of nearly 70% in just two minutes.

It's all about OLED's self-emissive pixel design - where every dot in the picture produces its own light level and color independent of its neighbors. Panasonic TX-65CZ950 Review

At long, long last, OLED screen technology is starting to realise the huge potential it's always appeared to have. LG's investment in new OLED production facilities has enabled the Korean brand to start selling big-screen OLED TVs at prices low enough to take on the most expensive LCD TVs. And now Panasonic has decided the time is right to jump in with its own debut OLED TV, the 65CZ950: a set which laughs in the face of cheapness but also, handily, sets a whole new bar for picture quality. The TV, which just went on sale in the UK as the Panasonic TX-65CZ952 and costs £7,999 (about $11,150 or AU$16,130) is easily one of the best in the market - but will be ditto for the US and AU markets when it eventually launches in those territories.

I'm getting ahead of myself, though. There's much to get through before we immerse ourselves in the 65CZ950's stunning pictures, starting with its equally stunning design.OLED's seemingly physics-defying trick of being able to deliver huge screen sizes from incredibly skinny bodies is to the fore once more, immediately making Panasonic's masterpiece look like it's travelled back from 2025.

ROCCAT KOVA 2016 Review

The KOVA builds upon the old ROCCAT favourite in a more streamlined shape that is suitable for left and right handers. Featuring easy to access additional 'Smart Cast' buttons located on the outside of the traditional mouse clicks along with two pairs of side buttons, the total of programmable buttons available is 12, then throw in ROCCAT's EASY SHIFT[+] feature, it doubles up and allows up to 22 programmable buttons in the palm of your hand. Under the hood comes a native 3500dpi Pro-Optic R6 sensor which has been powered up with the aid of ROCCAT's Turbo Core V2 processor, allowing for a stable double up of an effective 7000dpi.

Aesthetically, ROCCAT are moving away from rubberised plastic and more towards smooth, high quality plastics similar to what we have experienced with the ROCCAT NYTH and of course comes with 16.8M customisable RGB LED lighting in two lighting zones. Fully supported by ROCCAT's unified driver software 'Swarm' the all new KOVA checks many boxes gamers desire in a mouse.

Samsung 950 PRO M.2 256GB SSD Review

Fashionably late we test the new M.2 super fast Samsung 950 PRO Series M.2 SSDs. Interesting stuff as these smaller form factors are now evolving from being "just as fast" as a regular SSD towards double, tripling, heck... even quadrupling that performance. It comes in a different package though, M.2. The M.2 interface is so much more capable as it can deal with way more bandwidth using PCI-Express lanes. As such, M.2 solutions are intended for enthusiast class motherboards. The 950 series M.2 SSDs are a stunning series of storage technology as they offer enthusiast class performance yet remain reasonable in pricing (€199,95 for the 256GB model).

These new M.2 units use the NVMe protocol and that means storage technology at hyper fast speeds while remaining competitive in pricing. Samsung will shock and awe you a little with these puppies as the 256GB model we test today is capable of up-to 2500 MB/s for reads and 900MB/sec (256GB model) or 1500 MB/sec (512GB) for writes. The Samsung 950 PRO SSD is Samsung’s first consumer-ready Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) M.2 form factor SSD with vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology (32 layers/128 Gb & stacked). Storage technology keeps advancing at the fast pace it does, the performance numbers a good SSD offers these days are simply excellent as you can reach say 450 MB/s to 500 MB/sec on SATA3 which is the norm for a single controller based SSD. Next to that, over the past year, NAND flash memory (the storage memory used inside an SSD) has become much cheaper as well. Prices a year ago settled at just under 1 USD per GB. That was two to threefold two years ago. These days a good SSD can be found under 50 cents per GB. With parties like Samsung, Toshiba and Micro, the prices have now dropped by another 30%, you can spot SSDs for 30~40 cents per Gigabyte. NAND storage has gone mainstream and due to the lower prices, the volume sizes go up as well. Next to that the new trend is to be even faster. The Samsung 950 Pro series offers a little something of all these factors.
