Cooler Master Devastator 3 Keyboard and Mouse Combo Review

By releasing the Devastator 3 keyboard plus mouse combo, Cooler Master is also taking care of the entry level gaming segment, but can be also considered suitable for people that do not want to invest a lot on peripherals, but still take advantage of RGB functionality. The keyboard is available with many layouts and for cutting down costs, the manufacturer has went for a membrane-type switch, but at the same time has customized its design in order to increase the durability. The mouse packs an Avago sensor with a maximum DPI of 2400MHz, adjustable in four different preset steps and comes with an ergonomic shape; Cooler Master has used Omron switches for the buttons so the buttons are guaranteed to operate optimally up to 10 million actuations.

Corsair HX1000 1,000W PSU Review

A no-nonsense supply for a high-end build. Improvements in power-supply units (PSUs) over the last few years have translated to better efficiency, enhanced ripple suppression, a lack of noise at low loads, voltage regulation that doesn't buckle under extreme load, and modular cabling on the more premium supplies.

Corsair has carved a name for itself as a provider of a wide range of PSUs for the last decade, and the models now encompass, in order of quality, AX, HX, RM, TX, SF, CX, and VS. Quite a number then, and the premium trio all has a subset, denoted by the letter i, which offers integrated Corsair Link connectivity.

The company is bringing some more choice and a little extra value to the premium segment with the non-I supplies. To that end, the standard HX series is available in the same 750W, 850W, 1,000W and 1,200W capacities. We have the 1,000W model in for technical evaluation today.

Corsair RM650x Power Supply Review

Thanks to Corsair, today we’ll be taking a quick look at the Corsair RM650x Power Supply. The RMx Series of PSUs, are Corsair’s premium range of power supplies aimed at the high-end and enthusiast market. These power supplies are 80 Plus Gold certified, and features 100% Japanese capacitors, a fully modular cable management system, rifle bearing fan, zero RPM fan mode, and comes with a massive 7-10 year warranty.

As you know, each year we usually ask our vendors to sponsor one of our many modding projects. For this year’s PC build, we decided to use a micro ATX chassis (plus micro ATX motherboard). So when I asked Corsair what PSU they would recommend for our PC build, they suggested their RM650x power supply … and I agree with their recommendation. I didn’t need anything too big as it will only be used to power a micro ATX system with one GeForce GTX graphics card.

Based on the specifications and features of the Corsair RM650x PSU … I can see it has everything I need, plus more.

Fnatic Gear TMA-2 Modular Headset Review

The Fnatic Gear Duel TMA-2 headset is pretty unique for a gaming headset as it is actually modular. Intel Core i9-7900X ‘Skylake-X’ 10C20T CPU Indepth Analysis

Intel’s new Skylake-X series of processors, including the current flagship Core i9-7900X being tested in this review, has been one of those launches where everybody has had a strong opinion since the announcement. Whether it’s through stiff competition from AMD, anger at Intel’s seemingly-intentional aggressive product segmentation, or the overall launch that seems to have been rushed, X299 and Skylake-X have been hot topics for several weeks.

We finally got our hands on the new 10-core, 20-thread Core i9-7900X processor that serves as the X299 platform’s and, by extension, Intel’s consumer CPU flagship… for the next couple of months, at least. How will the new $999 part based on Intel’s fast Skylake architecture perform?

Microsoft lays off thousands more

The move is part of a restructuing of the company's sales force. The restructuring is set to include an organizational merger that involves its enterprise customer unit and one or more of its SME-focused divisions. The changes are set to be announced this coming week, we understand.
Microsoft is saying nothing about the move, which has been leaked to the press. Earlier this weekend, the Puget Sound Business Journal, Bloomberg and The Seattle Times all reported ‘major’ layoffs related to a move to increase the emphasis on cloud services within Microsoft’s sales teams worldwide. Bloomberg said the redundancies would be “some of the most significant in the sales force in years”.

MSI Core Frozr XL CPU Cooler Review

Last year MSI introduced their first ever heat pipe-style CPU cooler in a single tower model named the MSI Core Frozr L that used a four heat pipe design with support (two sets of fan mount clips) for two 120mm fans (although it is only shipped with one fan). Now MSI has introduced an updated version called the MSI Core Frozr XL that uses eight heat pipes, and ships with two 120mm fans.

Of course with the MSI Core Frozr XL's eight heat pipe design, you will need a bigger thermal transfer plate to hold the heat pipes and larger dissipation fins to dissipate all of that thermal activity (which those two 120mm fans then move away from the CPU). MSI made those two fans attach to the dissipation fin array by designing an attractive two piece plastic shroud that also helps direct air over the array. MSI kept the vent slots from the original Core Frozr L model in each dissipation fin to get some air flow down and around the CPU socket, thus helping move any thermal mass away from the CPU socket area.

With all of these enhancements, the MSI Core Frozr XL is more of a redesign based on the older Core Frozr L than an updated model. Before we begin to stress test the MSI Core Frozr XL, let’s delve into the physical makeup of this offering.

Samson Q2U XLR/USB Dynamic Microphone Review

The importance and use of microphones have picked up in the recent times due to let’s play and walkthrough videos, live streams, interviews and all sorts of voice overs. Naturally, many people will get into this genre of work and many would like to know what to get for the price they pay. I was such a person and started researching. Typically, I would go and look towards mid-range but it’s hard to determine what is true mid-range performance without testing any microphones and comparing the difference. I decided to buy the Samson Q2U locally but it was sold here as a standalone mic and podcasting pack. After delays, I had to cancel the order and get a used an opened pack unit from Amazon US as the new ones would take two months to arrive. Yay…

Scythe Mugen 5 CPU Cooler Review

Today, we have the Scythe Mugen 5 CPU Cooler on our test bench. Following on from the Scythe Kabuto 3, it will be interesting to see how a more normal style cooler performs VS the top-down offering in the Kabuto 3. For those who are unfamiliar with them, Scythe primarily focuses on cooling based products such as CPU Coolers and Fans, though they do offer some other products as well. Scythe may be more well-known in Europe, but they definitely have a good worldwide following and their products can be purchased in a number of countries. Scythe is another one of those companies who stays true to their roots and this can even be seen in things such as the colour schemes they use on their products! While RGB is great, it is always nice to see a company stay true to its roots and not hop aboard the hype train!

The Mugen 5 features a single tower fin array and comes equipped with one Kaze Flex 120 PWM as standard. The Mugen 5 is capable of using two fans for maximum cooling performance and even comes in a PCGH Edition that includes two fans in the box! As with most coolers we see these days, the Mugen 5 is compatible with a wide range of Intel and AMD based sockets types. Scythe reputation speaks for itself and if you’re not overly familair with them, just have a look around at some of the reviews from various sites and see for yourself!
