be quiet! Silent Loop 360mm Review

Plus-sized liquid cooling. Having entered the liquid-cooling marketplace with a trio of competitive all-in-one solutions back in 2016, be quiet! has now updated its portfolio with a fourth option better suited to enthusiasts. Dubbed the Silent Loop 360mm, this is the largest liquid cooler to emerge from the German manufacturer's production line and promises top-notch performance for a £140 fee.

First impressions are favourable, with be quiet! maintaining the Silent Loop design philosophy of good cooling with few frills. The all-black aesthetic will suit just about any build, there are no flash LEDs to worry about, no software to install, and as with other models in the range, the 360mm unit is very much a plug-and-play solution. We appreciate the simplicity, though of course there are two sides to this coin; those of you seeking a more eye-catching solution may prefer to look elsewhere.

If you choose be quiet! on the basis that you know what you're going to get, then there are no nasty surprises. Build quality is good, with the 397mm x 124mm x 55mm full-copper radiator feeling solid throughout, and it connects to the familiar low-profile pump via flexible tubing measuring 39cm long. The only obvious caveat this time around is that the larger radiator reduces chassis compatibility - it just about squeezes into our Fractal Design Define R5 test platform, but only after we've removed the entire optical drive assembly.

HyperX Cloud Revolver S

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is the most expensive headset this renowned manufacturer has to offer. Its feature list is strong, promising excellent build quality, class-leading sound performance, and Dolby Headset 7.1 Surround Sound, but expectations are very high as well. Does it have what it takes to justify its £140/$150/€170 price point?

Intel 8-core LGA1151 Processor will be 14 nm "Coffee Lake" Based

The 8-core processor Intel is planning to launch in the second half of 2018 will be based on the current 14 nanometer "Coffee Lake" micro-architecture, according to leaked XTU errata log. A curious looking change-log entry reads "[CFL] Added support for 8,2 core," where "CFL" is the three-letter contraction of "Coffee Lake," just as "KBL" stands for "Kaby Lake" and "HSW" for "Haswell."

This hints at the two directions in which Intel is expanding its 8th generation mainstream desktop lineup. On the upper-end of the spectrum, one can expect the augmentation of 8-core/16-thread parts, while at the lower end, one can expect dual-core parts, likely branded under the Pentium and Celeron brands. Intel's MSDT lineup will be led by 6-core parts under the Core i5 and Core i7 extensions, and quad-core parts under the Core i3 extension; with 6-core/12-thread Core i7 SKUs leading the pack till the second-half of 2018.

Intel Core i9-7980XE early benchmarks

Intel Core i9-7980XE: 18-cores for 2000 USD Intel's flagship processor for 2017, the Core i9-7920XE, is an 18-core behemoth designed specifically for one reason: to beat AMD's Threadripper in core count (which is up to 16 cores by the way). The i9-7980XE is currently the most expensive modern desktop CPU you can find, at least on paper, because it is not yet on sale. Some lucky tech enthusiasts got their hands on early samples, but we don't know if those are pre-production samples or retail units.

PUBG CPU Core Benchmarks – How Many Cores Do You Need

Last month, PLAYERUNKNOWNN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) released a patch with optimizations that improved performance for those running a CPU with six or more CPU cores in their gaming rigs. PUBG uses Unreal Engine 4, which is capable of producing solid image quality, but can be rather taxing on your PC hardware. This Early Access game developed by Bluehole, Inc. has already sold over 11 million copies and recently passed up Dota 2’s record of 1.29 million concurrent players with over 1.34 million concurrent players last weekend.

Those numbers are insane and that means there are nearly 11.5 million PC gamers out there looking for a chicken dinner. To get the best performance from PUBG you need a solid graphics card and processor. There are dozens of sites that have benchmark results for video cards, but when you look for CPU numbers there are just a handful. We were curious how many CPU cores you needed for PUBG and couldn’t find any results that showed benchmarks on the same processor with different core configurations.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review: A More Powerful, Premium And Refined Flagship

The Galaxy Note 8 is an important product for Samsung. Not only because the Note 8 is the company’s newest, flagship, large-screen smartphone, but because it also carries the additional burden of righting all of the wrongs associated with the company's Note 7 snafu. For some people, there is a certain stigma attached to the Note series now that could be erased if the Note 8 is a success and resonates well with consumers. We can tell you this up front -- all of the right technology seems to be in place. And from a design standpoint, the Note 8 sure is a looker. But good looks and the right specs don’t automatically make for a killer product...

W3C Abandons Consensus, Standardizes DRM with 58.4% Support

The World Wide Web Consortium has gone ahead with a DRM standard that conflicts with accessibility, security research, archiving, and competition: it's called EME, and it allows DRM-protected content published online to be decoded by web browsers without the need for plugins thanks to loading content decryption modules. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has tendered their resignation from the W3C, as their objections fell on deaf ears.
