Top End Gaming Performance for $400 – NVIDIA’s GEFORCE GTX 770 Reviewed

Last week, we posted our review of the GTX 780 from NVIDIA. It’s essentially, an affordable version of the GeForce Titan minus a few shader cores, a little memory, and a lot of money. At $649 USD, the GTX 780 is only marginally slower than the Titan when it comes to gaming performance. But for those who rely on GPU rendering power know that the Titan is the clear champion. Although the GTX 780 proves to be a more affordable option, it is still outside the price range for many gamers who don’t need to run multiple displays or the immense GPU processing power that may not be all that helpful for gaming. All they want are smooth respectable frame rates from their 1080p or higher display. NVIDIA didn’t leave those people high and dry.

Like the awesome bang for buck GTX 670 before it, the NVIDIA GTX 770 falls in to the role of a more cost effective and high end gaming GPU. Price at a more palatable $399 USD, we want to know how much performance we’re losing over the GTX 780. Or is it just a rebaged GTX 680? Sapphire Radeon HD 7790 2GB @ Techradar

Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz Quad-Core CPU Review @ Legit Reviews

Today Intel officially announced their 4th Generation Intel Core Processor architecture code-named "Haswell." This is the "tock" in Intel's roadmap that many enthusiasts have been waiting over a year for. The Intel Core i7-4770K is an interesting processor to review from a performance standpoint. When it comes to raw CPU performance it appears that "Haswell" brings a small performance increase to the table over an "Ivy Bridge" processor. Is it a large enough performance gain to make those that just bought an Ivy Bridge system in 2012 to go run out and buy a whole new system? Not likely, but for those with older processors the performance of Haswell should give you nice gains and you'll be able to use the new LGA-1150 platform and reap the benefits of the new Intel Z87 chipset and supporting third party solutions...

Dropcam HD Review @ TestFreaks

Over these past 12 months I am not sure which product class I’ve reviewed more – network attached storage devices or Wi-Fi video monitoring solutions. Today we look at the latter as the Dropcam HD is our review subject. Founded in 2009, Dropcam specializes in video monitoring and have recently upgraded their product line with an HD camera version, which features 720p video.

While most video monitoring solutions have event alerts and variable recording capabilities the Dropcam HD offers easy set up, night vision, two-way audio along with subscription based 24/7 DVR recording plan. Their video stream is encrypted and stored in the cloud allowing remote viewing via a secure webpage or with the free iPhone, iPad or Android app.

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming @ LanOC Reviews

Our first look at a non-Intel Z87 motherboard today is the Z87-G45 Gaming from the folks over at MSI. With a gaming focus I am really excited to see what the board is all about. Intel "Haswell" Core i7 4770K Review @ HCW

If you don’t recall, it refers to their philosophy of releasing a new architecture one year, then refining that architecture with a smaller fab procuess. Last year’s release of Ivy Bridge was the “Tick” to Sandy Bridge’s “Tock”. In other words, the architecture was pretty much the same, but the process wasn’t. With Ivy Bridge, they nailed the 22nm process, and could then move onto developing the next architecture – Haswell. And that’s what we’re going to review today, in the form of the Core i7 4770K.

The First Experience Of Intel Haswell On Linux @ Phoronix

Haswell is here, Haswell is here, Haswell is here!!! After talking for months about the Linux kernel and driver development for Intel's Ivy Bridge successor, the heatsink can be lifted today on talking about Intel's Haswell processor. For the past few weeks I have been running and benchmarking an Intel Core i7 4770K "Haswell" processor on Linux to mixed success. While the Haswell improvements are terrific, the Linux experience now is awaiting improvements.

Haswell is Intel's fourth-generation Core processor family, succeeding the year-old Ivy Bridge processor. Haswell has been hyped in recent months over its lower power consumption as well as delivering much-improved graphics performance over Ivy Bridge. Intel claims that Haswell will lead to the thinnest touch PC designs ever, the biggest battery life increases in Intel's history, and unprecedented graphics performance for ultra-thin computing.

Intel Core i7-4770K Review: Haswell Has Landed @ Hot Hardware

We've been talking about Intel's 4th Generation Core processor technology, codenamed Haswell, for over two years now. If you've been hanging around these parts and are like most self-respecting geeks, you've likely been feeling the build-up of Haswell for quite some time. Intel has disclosed lots of information on their latest processor technologies, from its 22nm 3D Tri-Gate transistors, to its beefed-up integrated graphics core. Sure, there's marketing hype and press releases but at some point you've got to have execution -- and today is all about execution for Intel.

Intel is officially launching Haswell today, their 4th Generation Core processor technology for the desktop market, with our follow-on coverage of dual core and mobile Haswell offerings coming up quickly on June 3rd. Haswell marks a number of firsts for Intel, including leading-edge technologies like on-chip voltage regulators, eDRAM, and their first graphics engine that fully supports the DX11.1 specification and OpenGL 4.0. With these new features alone, Haswell is primed to offer significant performance and feature enhancements, the likes of which should appeal first and foremost to mainstream consumers; but there's also plenty brought to the table for the performance enthusiast here as well. Intel Core i7 4770K Review @ OCC

After taking an initial look at a press-only event a few weeks back, I was hopeful that there were just some really bad early samples out and that the Core i7 4770K would overclock at least as well as the three Core i7 3770Ks I have. Truth be told it was right on par with my ES 3770K and a little behind the two retail samples at 4.7GHz. All in all not bad, as that is a 1.2GHz bump over the base clock speed. By pushing this far, heat is going to be an issue even with water cooling, so the recommendation was to try and stay under or around 1.25v, and no more than 1.275 as the thermal load contained in the small confines of the die just cannot be shed fast enough to keep from warming up regardless of the cooling used.

Intel Core-i7 4770K Haswell Processor Review @ Benchmark Reviews

Many companies have committed to aggressive product introduction schedules, only to have them fall by the wayside as the reality of the development process overwhelmed the optimism of the marketing department. But Intel continues to stick to its annual "tick-tock" CPU release cycle, with Haswell family CPUs following only slightly more than a year after the groundbreaking Ivy Bridge line, which introduced low-leakage 3D transistors.

Intel's annual schedule works like this: first, release a new processor architecture, then, about a year later, introduce a process-shrink refinement. The new architecture is a "tock" and the process refinement is a "tick". Previously, Sandy Bridge CPUs were the "tock" and last year's Ivy Bridge CPUs were the "tick". Haswell, with a new microarchitecture, is built on the same 22nm process introduced by Ivy Bridge, and next year's 14nm Broadwell processors will be the "tick" to Haswell's "tock."

Intel Haswell i7-4770K & i5-4670K Review @ Hardware Canucks

Haswell has been on the minds of many enthusiasts from the moment it crawled onto Intel's roadmaps. This architecture is supposed to serve as a rugged and adaptable platform for both the mobile and desktop spaces over the next two years or so.
