ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero (LGA 1151) Motherboard Review

The Z170 chipset and Skylake CPU’s have been around for just over a week now and we have seen pretty much everything that each manufacturer has to offer. We now know that the huge connectivity options presented by the Z170 chipset that some manufacturers have included not one, but two, sometimes even three M.2 slots and multiple USB 3.0 ports. Along with those, you also have USB 3.1 Type A and Type C as standard on the vast majority of the Z170 series boards.

Today on the test bench, we take our first look at an ASUS Republic of Gamers (RoG) motherboard in the form of the Maximus VIII Hero (M8H). If you’ve heard anything about the RoG range, you’ll know that it is the go-to motherboard range if you want the highest performance, best quality components, more accessories than you could ever use and some of the best looks available.

The M8H follows a similar process to the RoG ranges of old with huge amount of features, but things have changed slightly, ASUS has decided to almost ditch the red colour scheme; I’ll let that sink in. So instead of the red theme, ASUS has gone for a simply stunning grey with subtle red detailing. I think this is a step in the right direction because of every manufacturer jumping on the red scheme recently.

MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning Review

MSI builds some pretty unique cards with its Lightning series. You know you are going to get world class components and build quality thanks to the deign work that MSI as a company does. In this respect, I am far from disappointed. For one, right out of the box the GTX 980 Ti Lightning was delivering FPS performance levels almost as high as an overclocked GTX Titan X with nothing more than letting the card do its thing while gaming. To deliver this kind of performance bump over the reference card is an amazing feat. There is not a single game or synthetic game test that the GTX 980 Ti Lightning is not the highest performing card in the comparison. When overclocked it falls a bit short of a clean sweep, but is consistently in the top two cards, making it one beast of a card, the Marshawn Lynch of video cards if you will. Even playing at 4K resolutions with a single card and the specific game settings proved possible with the GTX 980 Ti Lightning.

Otterbox Commuter Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 Review

Every phone I’ve owned has had an Otterbox case on it, at least those that had an Otterbox case available for it. Recently I got the Samsung Galaxy S6 Android phone and as soon as I left the AT&T store I went and bought an Otterbox Commuter Series case for it. I have the case so I thought I would review it as it’s a great case. I got the glacier color, it’s white and gray, with two layer of protection, a soft rubber inner case and then a hard polycarbonate shell over that. It’s a great case, read on to learn more…

Thermaltake Core X9 Review: You could fit more than one system in here

The Core X9 is a behemoth, boasting a bar-fridge-like 122L capacity -- large enough that Thermaltake says dual systems are on the menu, not to mention the possibilities for liquid cooling and file servers. "Super Towers" or "Ultra Towers" such as the Lian Li D8000, Cooler Master Cosmos II and Corsair Obsidian 900D typically cost upwards of $300, so we're eager to see what Thermaltake's Core X9 delivers for almost 40% less.
