Neoseeker published a review on the Kentsfield Quad Core QX6700 CPU
Kentsfield, the first quad core processor on the market, is essentially 2 Conroe dies in one processor package. Intel claims as much as a 70% performance increase over the E6800 Extreme Edition Core 2 Duo. We put the QX6700 to the test in over 23 benchmarks, including overclocked results to simulate several upcoming Quad Core speed grades. In all we benchmark the QX6700 at 7 total clockspeeds raging from the 2.66GHz stock all the way up to 3.45GHz (aircooled)!Kentsfield Quad Core QX6700 Full Review with Overclocked Result Sets
"For servers, it means that the solution is less than ideal, and we can expect a small but measurable performance hit compared to a "true" quad core die solution. Nevertheless, it will still be significantly faster than a "plain" dual core chip.
For heavy multimedia producers, it means they can get their hands on a big performance boost without having to wait for quad cores on one die - and if they make money producing said multimedia, they will be lining up to buy Quad core processors, as it will give them a significant capability boost for rendering and post production."
