Tens of thousands of ATMs and PoS machines in the UK could become vulnerable to attack next month when support for Windows XP Embedded ends

From The Inquirer:
The Extended Support Cycle for XP draws to a close on 12 January 2016, 21 months after the end of the rest of the XP family, after which time any machines still running it will be unprotected against vulnerabilities and malware.

There was a general feeling that users of XP Embedded would sort themselves out by the time Windows XP reached end-of-life. However, it appears that for many, tomorrow never comes and 65,000 UK ATMs are still estimated to be running the outgoing operating system.
