Microsoft president and CEO Steve Ballmer may have unveiled a new ASP licensing model here on Friday at Fusion 2000. But the pricing scheme is actually still a work in progress -- and the final version won´t be official until August 1.
So what is known about the new model? ASPs will pay either a per-user or per-processor monthly fee, but not a per-server price, according to Microsoft ISP and hosting chief Dwight Krossa. Microsoft (stock: MSFT) will not offer volume discounts on its hosted licensing deals, and ASPs will have to license directly from it.
