This Security Intelligence Report focuses on the second half of the 2006 calendar year (from July to December) and builds upon the data published in the first volume of the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report that covers the first half of 2006. Using data derived from several hundred million Windows users, this report provides an in-depth perspective of trends in the malicious and potentially unwanted software landscape. The scope of this second volume of the report has been expanded to include trends on software vulnerabilities disclosed in the second half of 2006.
