On November 6, 2001, Microsoft entered into a proposed settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and nine State Attorneys General, which was designed to resolve the remaining liability findings in the government antitrust lawsuit. Although the proposed consent decree has not been entered by the District Court, Microsoft agreed to abide by its terms pending approval. Since November, Microsoft has been engaged in extensive efforts to meet the milestones established under the consent decree, many of which will be reached in the coming weeks.
