I remember the days of the IBM XT computer that came with a solid steel cased keyboard that featured all your basic keys and offered nothing less than several pounds of weight without any ergonomic thought. Gone are those days, and good riddance!

Today’s keyboards are made out of plastics and with everyone looking for the most comfortable keyboard and mouse, companies are coming up with innovative ways to win over the consumers’ money. It is this race to find the perfect mouse and keyboard design that brought around such ideas as shortcut keys around the keyboard and additional shortcut buttons on the mouse (which, by the way, wasn’t around in the days of the XT).
