GamePC has posted a review on the NEC 1830BK 18" LCD Monitor
While LCD technology has thus far been shrugged off by the majority of the gaming community, due to the technology´s inherent limits of not being able to refresh pixels fast enough for high-speed games like Quake and Counterstrike. Basically, LCD monitors have a specified set of pixels on the screen that can be turned on or off, depending on the color needed to be displayed (R, G, or B). Current LCD screens just can´t flip the switches to turn these pixels on or off fast enough. CRT monitors don´t have to worry about this issue, as the cathode ray tube refreshes the entire screen every 60-100 times per second. CRT technology has been refined over a course of 20+ years, while LCD monitors are relatively new. The technology is improving, though.Read more
