ASUS DUAL GTX 1660 SUPER EVO OC Crushes the Red Devil RX 590 in 46 Games

The GTX 1660 SUPER is the eighth GeForce GPU based on NVIDIA’s Turing architecture. Just as with the GTX 1660 Ti, there is no Founders Edition so it is represented in this review by the factory overclocked ASUS DUAL GTX 1660 SUPER EVO OC which launches for sale today at $229.99.

The three Turing 1660s are successors to the Pascal GTX 1060 and they are not equipped with RT nor Tensor cores which allows the GTX 1660 SUPER to launch starting at $229. The GTX 1660 SUPER is currently aimed at the RX 590 which can now be found below $200 with a single game bundle although most overclocked models are priced higher. The Red Devil RX 590 is a premium overclocked card that launched just under a year ago and is currently out of stock at Amazon and Newegg except for open box models priced just below $220, so this is still a fair comparison.

Their latest solution is the LinkStation SOHO and today we have it in house. Starting from the top, the LinkStation SOHO shares the same form factor and enclosure with the 200 series. Going further, hardware between platforms has seemingly stayed the same well with the new SOHO using a dual-issue ARM @ 800MHz and 256MB of DDR3.For connectivity we have a single gigabit ethernet port, USB 2.0 and SATAII internally to the backplane. Close to the Sun Xbox One Review

You might think of Bioshock, but luckily, this game moves beyond that shadow.

When you open up Close to the Sun, the first thing that comes to mind is Bioshock. Beyond just the font, which is the same, the plot is similar. You have to take a boat to the middle of the ocean to board a mysterious scientific vessel that's become a home for the best the world has to offer. You're then thrust into a mystery where you're surprisingly involved and have to overcome experiments gone wrong and the hubris of man to make it out alive. Yeah, definitely familiar.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super Gaming OC Review

Faster than GTX 1660, if memory serves. Renewed competition in the GPU marketplace has resulted in key players jostling for position with new models that pad out the respective product lines, leaving no price point left uncontested. In July of this year, NVIDIA announced and launched its “SUPER” refresh of the GeForce RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080. We’ve evaluated the Founders Edition RTX 2070 SUPER and 2060 SUPER at launch, as well as the Founders Edition RTX 2080 SUPER later that month. We have also reviewed a retail ASUS RTX 2070 SUPER and a retail MSI RTX 2080 SUPER.

Well, NVIDIA isn’t done refreshing its lineup, now it’s time for the current generation GeForce GTX series to get the SUPER refresh. Some of these video cards aren’t even that old, only being released earlier this year. It’s like that famous Oprah car giveaway meme, “You get a SUPER refresh!” and “You get a SUPER refresh!” and “You get a SUPER refresh!” In this instance, all GeForce series GPUs get the SUPER treatment!

iBUYPOWER Snowblind Element Review

Back in 2017 at CES iBUYPOWER teased a concept that they had been working with, a PC case with a monitor built into the side panel. Now that idea itself isn’t completely new, there have been modders who have done it. But what they did was just have the LCD panel and nothing else, leaving a transparent side panel that you can still see everything inside with everything on the display floating and showing up almost like magic. This is well and good for a concept, but producing and selling what is basically a very complicated case mod is a whole different story and frankly I didn’t think they would do it. When last year at CES 2018 they actually introduced their Snowblind series of builds which included this feature I was surprised and impressed and it had me considering trying to do the same thing myself with a build. Buying a full build from them for the feature didn’t really make sense given my experience with PCs. Well at the start of this month they made that a lot easier with the introduction of their first individually sold case, the Snowblind. Well today I finally get to check it out in person. I’ve been collecting white components to go inside the build and today I’m going to check out iBUYPOWERs first case and check out its side panel window LCD as well!

Moons of Madness Review

MSI GTX 1660 SUPER Gaming X Review

The Nvidia GTX 1660 SUPER cards are here at last, and few come as high-end as the MSI Gaming X model. It may be a more affordable card, but even then there is still room for more affordable and more premium models. With the award-winning Twin Frozr 7 cooler, this card should be able to run harder, faster, and cooler than many of its rivals. We certainly intend to find out if that is the case.

Earlier this year, we put the MSI GTX 1660 Gaming X thought its paces, and it was a very competitive and affordable graphics card. However, now the SUPER version is here! It’s basically the same chipset, honestly, no changes there. However, rather than GDDR5 it now features the much faster GDDR6 memory, which should give it a nice performance boost, especially at higher resolutions. So faster memory and a bigger cooler, will that be enough to make this the new king of budget gaming cards? We certainly hope so.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Review

When the original “SUPER” cards were introduced earlier this year NVIDIA was offering new configurations of existing silicon, with additional SMs – and thus more CUDA Cores – enabled, among other differences. This GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER launch is different, as it retains the identical configuration of a TU116 GPU found in the original (i.e. non-SUPER) version. This new GPU even runs at the same Base/Boost clocks as its predecessor!

So what makes this GTX 1660 SUPER, well, super? NVIDIA has upped the memory from 8 Gbps to 14 Gbps, which results in a jump from 192.1 GB/s to 336 GB/s available memory bandwidth on the same 192-bit bus. The big question then becomes, how memory bandwidth-constrained was the GTX 1660 to begin with? And can this new card come close to a GTX 1660 Ti? The gaming benchmarks to follow will answer that, and since we aren’t looking at any architectural or other significant changes let’s skip ahead to the important stuff: performance. (But first a quick look at specs.)

Kicking off the first of a series of video card launches for this holiday season is NVIDIA, who is announcing their GeForce GTX 1660 Super. This is a relatively minor, but none the less interesting revision to the GTX 1660 family that adds a 1660 (vanilla) SKU with faster GDDR6 memory for improved performance. Along with the GeForce GTX 1650 Super (shipping in late November), these two cards are going to be the backbone of NVIDIA’s mainstream efforts to close out the year. And while NVIDIA’s other GTX 1660 cards aren’t going anywhere, as we’re going to see today, with its $229 price tag, the GDDR6-equipped GTX 1660 Super is pretty much going to make the other 1660 cards redundant.

These cards are coming purely from their partner brands, such as Palit! We actually reviewed the Palit GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and the GTX 1650 earlier this year, but we didn’t get their GTX 1660. Zotac GTX 1660 SUPER TwinFan Review

The SUPERs are coming, that seems to be the theme for 2019! Nvidia may have already released an impressive range of graphics cards this year. However, they’ve been pretty swift to follow them up with SUPER variants that are even faster! Now, we already loved the Zotac GTX 1660 Twin Fan (non-super) when it launched about 8 months ago. While basically none of the GPU core its self has changed, we do see this card move from GDDR5 to GDDR6 memory over the same 192-bit memory bus. Most of the new SUPER cards will also come with an improved factory overclock too.
