What´s new in Opera 5.11:
Skins
Change the look of your Opera with two clicks! Simply right-click on your favourite image to integrate it on your desktop or customize your interface.
Flash enabled
Opera 5.11 incorporates the popular Flash media format, letting you instantly enjoy Flash powered content on the Web without having to download the Flash plugin separately.
New progress display and stop button
Opera 5.11 introduces a new way of displaying progress information. The progress bar pops up at the bottom of the document showing detailed progress information. The stop button is integrated in the main toolbar, replacing the reload button while loading.
Users who prefer to view the progress information as in earlier versions, may of course choose to do so.
Work faster with improved mouse navigation
Your new Opera puts more power at your fingertips by adding special mouse button navigation and gesture recognition.
First, press and hold the right button and then press the left button once or multiple times to go back. Do it the other way around to go forward. Second, press and hold the right button, and move the mouse to the left and release the button to go ´back´. You have just activated your first gesture command. Opera contains similar gestures for activating other commonly used actions. For example, right click over a link and move down to open the link in a new window!
Read the Mouse gesture tips for a complete description of mouse-only navigation in Opera.
Improved window handling
Opera 5.11 includes an improved window system that integrates popups without interfering with your surfing experience. For example, Opera will now remember the size and position of the transfer window and each individual instant messaging window!
More privacy
Discover the power and ease-of-use of the updated ´delete´ private data dialogue in Opera 5.11, available in the File menu. This will take care of privacy concerns when sharing a computer and Opera with others.
Updated E-mail client
The E-mail client in Opera 5.11 is more stable and better looking. It uses a new display engine, which is also shared with the news client. Opera 5.11 now supports encrypted POP and SMTP and makes sending and retrieving mail more secure.
Better DOM and CSS support
Opera 5.11 includes many additions to its DOM and CSS engines. All together, this makes Opera more standard compliant and a better browser.
For example, Opera now supports CSS system fonts and colors, which allows users to customize the color scheme and font setup. Opera takes advantage of this new function in the updated E-mail client.
Bug fixes
As always, a new version means fixing those bugs that have caused problems in previous releases. While we cannot claim that Opera is bug free, version 5.11 goes a long way to make browsing a stable and enjoyable experience.
