In the past a modder's only choices for lighting up their overclocked, state of the art, gaming rig was a neon light or a cold cathode. They both do the job well but there were some obstacles. The drawbacks to the neon light are it produces heat, uses substantial amounts of power and it has mounting limitations. The cold cathode has the same mounting restrictions but used less power.
