Elite Bastards finally finished their review of Futuremark's new system benchmarking tool, PCMark05.

Since our review of PCMark04 back in November 2003, things have changed in the system benchmarking world, due to one major step forward - The introduction of dual-core CPUs. To proficiently test these parts, such as AMD's Athlon64 X2 CPUs, benchmarking using multi-threaded applications or, arguably more realistically, running multiple applications on tandem is the order of the day.

Thus, a couple of weeks ago saw the release of a new revision of PCMark, now in its PCMark05 incarnation. Some testing of multi-threading is obviously going to be the big change this time around, but let's take a look at the benchmark as a whole to see what else is new, and what this revision of the software has to offer.
