VIA Hardware has posted their review on the new Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz processor.

The P4 2.8 GHz is only available on a 533 MHz bus, so potential buyers must be sure their motherboards support the higher standard, or, at a minimum, can overclock to it. Unlike AMD, Intel does not allow for their CPU's to be unlocked, so there's no way to adjust the multiplier to overcome a slower bus, though owners of 400 MHz-only motherboards shouldn't feel totally left out—Intel does, apparently, have plans to introduce a 2.5 GHz part on a 400 MHz bus later on this year. Having established the operating voltage and bus standards the 2.8 requires, lets move on to benchmarks and see how she lines up against AMD's 5 day old Thoroughbred.
