GamePC has posted a Pentium 4 Chipset Performance Shootout



It's been over one year after the Pentium 4 has launched, and Intel's new flagship processor has still yet to penetrate the major markets it was intended for. The video editing markets are still owned by the Pentium III and Dual Athlon platforms, the business sector is still plenty happy with Pentium II and III processors, and the value segment is getting squeezed by AMD's low-cost Duron and Athlon XP processors. Our particular market, the high-end / gamer segment seems fairly split, many loving the raw speed and low price of the Athlon, while others love the well-endowed memory bandwidth and ultra-stability of the Pentium 4 platform. There hasn't been one real market that the Pentium 4 has beaten the competition in, whether in performance or sales.
