EliteBastards look at PowerColor's Radeon X1300 HyperMemory 2 to see how it shapes up at the low-end of the market.

The product name should give you a hint that what PowerColor are offering here isn't just your standard Radeon X1300 HyperMemory configuration, that '2' moniker is there for a reason. While standard HyperMemory flavour Radeon X1300's come clocked at 400MHz on both core and memory, PowerColor's X1300 HyperMemory 2 places itself over and above even a Radeon X1300 PRO with regard to clock speeds, coming in with a core clock of 600MHz (equivalent to an X1300 PRO) but a RAM clock of 500MHz DDR (1GHZ effective), 100MHz over the PRO variant of the board. Considering that one of the most crippling aspects of modern low-end GPUs tends to be a lack of memory bandwidth, with costs reduced by putting large quantities of very slow RAM on such parts, PowerColor's efforts in placing 128MB of reasonably fast modules on this SKU is a most welcome one, and likely to make a fair difference when it comes to performance.
