After writing out the power section of the video card roundup, it made me wonder, what´s more important, image quality or pure raw speed when it comes to advancements? Sure, before (and we´re literally talking years ago) it was all about framerate, since resolution was pretty much limited to 640X480, 32bit color in games was just a pipe dream, and reaching 35fps was a simple achievement. Well we obviously came a very long way from there. After going through the 30fps vs. 60fps stage, the gaming community started to require a bit more than pure raw speed. At that stage 32bit color was the king, and Nvidia´s TNT led the pack for a while, even though the difference wasn´t that major compared to 16bit, at least it was something new. As we keep going on and more advancement were made, everything did start to look better, but still nothing was done about the jagged edges, which appear on most objects.Read more
