t-break takes a quick look at the WD My Net N900 Central Router

How many times have you tried to stream a YouTube clip at home only to have it stop halfway through because one of your siblings has started their 1.42GB download? Bandwidth-hoarding seems to be an issue plenty of people face, but other than threatening to shut down the other person’s computer, there’s precious little that you can do. Well, Western Digital (yes, the hard drive people) have come up with a solution, in the form of the My Net N900 Central Router.

Build Quality & Design

It’s rather odd that Western Digital is making routers, but the company seems to know what they’re doing with this particular model. With my review unit I received the note that ‘anyone can setup this router’, meaning that if a complete nutjob such as myself could pull it off, then the average consumer would be able to as well. The router comes with four Ethernet ports and a WAN port at the back, as well as a USB port for attaching an external drive or printer. There’s a WPS button on the front that allows you to quickly connect other compatible devices. The unit bundles with either a 1TB or 2TB internal HDD, and I was fortunate to grab the 2TB version.
