Antion Audio ModMic

It might be news to people who don’t consider themselves to be audiophiles, but for the most part gaming headsets aren’t exactly known for having top level audio performance. They are expensive, but they generally are focused on styling, and adding features that can be used in marketing when promoting. I’m not saying they are bad, but there are better options when you drop the microphone and start looking at headphones. You can also sometimes save some money going this route. This is why when you walk around a LAN you are going to see a few people sporting big headphones. The problem of course is for online gaming you are going to need a microphone. There are a few different options with the most popular being microphones sitting on your desk. They can be cheap old school microphones or production quality microphones that costs as much or more than your headphones. Well if you are looking for something that is closer to a traditional gaming headset you need a microphone on your headphones and Portland, Oregon based Antlion Audio stepped up to fill this void with their ModMic. Today I’m checking out the 4th iteration of the ModMic to see how they perform in combination with our V-Moda headphones.

Don’t Wait, Get macOS 10.12 Sierra Features in El Capitan Right Now

So youve seen the keynote and read all about the new features coming in the renamed macOS Sierra, but youre too impatient to wait till October. Keep in mind that third party integration cant hope to match what Apple can do with features baked right into the OS, but also that many of these applications are mature products that have been providing added functionality for some time.

Windows 10 vs. Ubuntu 16.04 Graphics Performance With Radeon Software, AMDGPU-PRO, AMDGPU+RadeonSI

Yesterday I published some Windows 10 vs. Ubuntu 16.04 Linux gaming benchmarks using the GeForce GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics cards. Those numbers were interesting with the NVIDIA proprietary driver but for benchmarking this weekend are Windows 10 results with Radeon Software compared to Ubuntu 16.04 running the new AMDGPU-PRO hybrid driver as well as the latest Git code for a pure open-source driver stack.

Under Windows 10 Pro x64, the Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.6.1 driver was used for benchmarking. Under an updated Ubuntu 16.04 stack, tested first was the AMDGPU-PRO Beta 2 (16.20.3) driver. After testing this hybrid driver, the Linux 4.7 Git kernel was installed along with Mesa 12.1-dev and LLVM 3.9 SVN via the Padoka PPA for providing a very bleeding-edge look at the open-source AMD/Radeon Linux graphics driver performance.
