A case full of fans blowing in and out in every direction is quite wasteful if there are obstructions blocking the airflow. You can help minimize the amount of obstructions by tucking your cables into empty drive bays, using TinyBGA memory versus full height sticks, and rounding the IDE, floppy, and SCSI cables for your drives.
