When I reviewed Saitek’s gaming keyboard, I said that the backlighting looked real nice, but didn’t help any with finding keys in the dark. I also said that the gaming pad was not likely to appeal to the majority of the gaming crowd. Now mine wasn’t the first review on the keyboard and I certainly wasn’t saying something that hadn’t been said before. Well apparently Saitek listened to the criticisms and decided to do something about it. They dropped the gaming pad altogether, laser-etched the letters onto the keys, tweaked the backlight a little and re-released the keyboard under the ‘Eclipse’ moniker. While the form looks completely unchanged, the new backlighting scheme promises to live up to those late-night LAN party needs.
