The Samsung ML-4500 is available for as little as $178 US. While a laser printer still may not be the perfect solution for the average home user this could be a very great buy for home or small business´s. Laser printers are also much faster then ink jets. They may both advertise the same speed of 8ppm (pages per minute) like the ML-4500 is, but with laser printers the ppm usually always is very close to the advertised rate and hardly varies at all depending on what you are printing or even how much is on the page. Ink jets very tremendously on how full the page is that you are printing, and if you printing a high quality color picture the ppm rate is cut down exponentially. At the highest resolutions many Inkjets drop below a 0.5ppm. Also for volume printing laser printers are better, with ink jets you have to replace the ink cartridges every couple hundred pages, but with the ML-4500 you should get about 2,500 per toner cartridge and if you use the Toner Save feature you can get as many as 3,500 pages. Granted toner cartridges are about 3 to 4 times as expensive as ink cartridges.
