Over the past several years, we have seen few innovations in case lighting. A relative stalemate has crystalized in the power tug-of-war between cold cathodes and LEDs in the market. Neon has since gone by the wayside as a traditional means of lighting, as has EL tape and wire. But the other two aggresively vie for the lead. LEDs are small and cost effective, cathodes are bright and easily installed. After some time, we saw newer applications of the two: lazer LEDs, multicolor cathodes, etc. In the end, the basis for them hasn't really changed that much though.
