ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark S Limited Edition Motherboard Review

It is not often we see limited edition motherboards, maybe one or two a year maybe. So when ASUS said they were sending me a limited edition motherboard I was quite excited. The color white in the PC enthusiast scene has become extremely popular over the past couple of years. PC case manufacturers have really adopted it with a wide variety of all white cases, there are white power supplies, even a few all-white graphics cards, but a white motherboard is something very hard to come by. ASUS is changing all of that with their Sabertooth Z97 Mark S Limited Edition Motherboard. This motherboard is part of ASUS’s TUF (The Ultimate Force) line of motherboards so it has the TUF Thermal Armor and TUF Fortifier. ASUS has changed the colors of these to arctic (white) camo to give the motherboard a truly unique look. On top of that they have actually built the motherboard on a completely white PCB. Not only is this truly unique it really makes the motherboard look amazing. Being an ASUS motherboard that is part of the TUF series it has quite a lot of features as well, let’s take a look!

Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 - 850 Watt PSU Review

We review the all new Be Quiet! Dark Power PRO 11 - 850 Watt power supply. The successful series from Listan (the company behind Be Quiet) has been upgraded with a few new tweaks, features and hey now, it now is an 80 Plus Platinum certified product series. In the ever-growing demand of power consumption they this is a highly modular, four 12V rail, high energy efficient product that remains very silent. Next to a bump in efficiency the new Dark Power Pro 11 power supply have a new trick, the design allows you to switch (with an overclock locking key) in-between a single and multi-rail design. Now personally I say give me a single rail anytime of the day, but if you want a choice and prefer multi-rails, go for it we say.

Efficiency wise anno 2015 things just do not matter that much anymore. The 850 Watt PSU as tested today has a 80 Plus Platinum certification meaning at 50% load this puppy is 94% efficient (with 230V). Bronze, Silver but really Gold or Platinum and Titanium is what you want, the upper stack in hardware is more expensive though. As you guys know Platinum is the most expensive of the precious metals that is widely traded by very large numbers of people. Plenty of other metals are more expensive, but they are generally traded only by specialists and industries that consume them. Generally speaking public trades gold, silver, and platinum. Gold is the prettiest, silver is cheaper (by a huge margin), but platinum is the fanciest!

So, it's 94% efficient at 50% load at 230V and 92% at 110V. Efficiency matters; years ago PSUs were as low as 70% efficient, meaning that 30% of the used power simply vanishes somewhere in that electric circuitry, whilst you are paying for it on that electricity bill. Allow me to explain a little more simple, if your components consume 500W directly from the PSU then with that 70% efficient product you'd actually use and draw 650W from your wall power socket. With a Platinum PSU you'd be using 540W. The math is that simple. You can select four rails up-to 32 to 40 amps with a total of 83 amps. There will be a multitude of connectors, but also four 3-pin fan connectors on this power supply.

Be Quiet! Pure Rock CPU Cooler Review

MSI Cubi Review

MSI is offering its Cubi Mini PC in four different specifications with varying levels of CPU grunt, depending on the price you pay. Cubi is a barebones design however the sample sent to KitGuru was fully built and ready to roll. If you buy a Cubi you will have to install RAM, storage and an Operating System (Windows 7 or 8.1) yourself, although this should only take you a few minutes.

Samsung SM951 M.2 PCIe SSD Review (512GB)

In 2013 we were able to get a hold of Samsung's first go at an OEM M.2 PCIe 2.0 x4 SSD, the XP941. Once word got out about this SSD's speeds many storage enthusiasts thirsted for it. Samsung was not prepared for the consumer market to get so hyped up over it and they stopped distribution to 3rd party resellers as demand was exceeding supply. After a few long months it was finally available again and if you were big on fast storage, this small gum stick SSD was the one for you.

Now, fast forward to 2015. A few weeks ago we took a look at a very fast consumer M.2 SSD, the Kingston HyperX Predator. It offers consumers great speeds as well as endurance, surpassing that of the XP941. Not only that, but it is easily bootable in almost any system. Now, it claims the title of the fastest consumer M.2 PCIe SSD out, however, it isn't the fastest M.2 option to the storage enthusiast.

Today we are going to take a look at Samsung's SM951, an OEM M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD that offers speeds of up to 2.2GB/s read and 1.5GB/s write! These speeds are almost in line with what the much larger HHHL Intel 750 can do and yet it does this in a M.2 2280 form factor with only a few NAND packages!

The staggered birth of Kaveri has been an interesting story to cover but it has been difficult to keep all the pieces right in the forefront of memory. The initial launch in January 2014 saw a small number of SKUs such as the A10-7850K and the A8-7600 at first and since then we have had a small trickle at a rate of one or two new models a quarter hitting the shelves. Weve seen 65W SKUs, such as in the form of the A10-7800, which offer 45W modes as well. Today were reviewing the most recent Kaveri processor to hit the market, the A8-7650K rated at 95W and officially priced at $105/$95.
