AthlonOC has posted a HSF Roundup

Have you taken a look at the Socket A heatsink market lately? There are so many to choose from! Over the past six months the heatsink manufacturers have come up with many new and improved designs, in fact some quite radical designs, for the Socket A. The Socket A CPU´s, the Thunderbird and the Duron, develop such large amounts of heat, that you have to use a good quality heatsink, otherwise you risk frying your chip. A year ago the only quality heatsinks you could get for Socket A use were the Alpha 6035, and Globalwin FOP-32. Both were good performers, at the time. But things have changed. Back then the fastest chip available was the 800mhz Thunderbird, putting out about 45 Watts of heat. But things have changed now, to put in perspective, a Thunderbird running at 1500mhz puts out about 90 Watts of heat. That´s quite a difference. And those old heatsinks just don´t cut it anymore, not for the speeds that we are all achieving with our chips.

The heatsink market now is totally different though. There are so many that most people don´t know the difference, or what performs best. So we decided to help you make those choices by doing a little testing.
