Noctua show KitGuru new range of Prototype coolers @ Computex
Our favourite cooling company Noctua have been showcasing some upcoming products at Computex in Taipei and we have a little gallery of images to show you this morning. For those of you who don’t know, KitGuru recently hit 4.8ghz on air with a Core i7 875k with their monster Austrian Sandwich the NH D14 - which you can see over here. We even managed to hit 5ghz, although it wasn’t stable … nonetheless, booting into Windows at 5ghz on air is still incredible!

KitGuru @ Computex - Corsair Graphite, eVGA 1200W PSU, OCZ Vertex 2, Suzy Sylvie sex appeal
KitGuru has noticed that (almost) every company now wants to make (almost) every product. Not 100% – but close. EVGA has long been associated with high end graphics cards, so what else did they have hidden on the 17th floor?

KitGuru’s like speed. SSD delivers speed in buckets. Few companies took off with the idea of SSD as fast as OCZ. Given that the leader into this market was Intel, with the stunningly good X.25, we think that OCZ has done a great job of jostling for first place in this seriously difficult market sector.

Most exhibitions in the world have the best products, you know, at the show. It doesn’t work that way at Computex. Far from it. KitGuru’s spies went behind closed doors and into Corsair’s exclusive little suite – tucked away on the 10th floor of a hotel.

MeeGo Linux platform gains allies at Computex
The Linux-based MeeGo mobile platform made a strong showing at the Computex conference this year in Taipei. The platform is attracting some interest from hardware makers and mobile Linux software vendors.

When we reviewed the MeeGo 1.0 netbook environment last week, we noted that the official MeeGo system image does not supply a complete Linux distribution. It will be up to downstream Linux distributors and hardware vendors to handle hardware drivers, codecs, and other important bits that are needed to make the operating system practical to use on real hardware. At the time, we expressed our hope for an openSUSE-based MeeGo build from Novell so that users would have an end-to-end MeeGo platform.

KitGuru @ Computex - Powercolor Hydra & NPU/GPU; Thermaltake GW, Sapphire-eVGA takeover?
In our second Powercolor article today from Computex we managed to get our hands on the upcoming HD5770 Evolution which is another of the ‘firsts’ for Powercolor which has Lucid’s Hydra chip on the PCB. The idea behind this card is that it can be paired up with ANY other graphics card on the market, even if it is made by nVidia.

We spent some time with Powercolor at Computex and had a look at their products on display. An interesting model they had on show was the HD5770 Sniper - the ‘World’s First GPU & NPU’. “What on earth is a NPU?” I hear you ask? well it is not only an ATI HD5770 graphics card, but they have built in ‘the worlds fastest network card’ as well into the processing.

Computex has become THE event for the launch of new products. Ancient KitGurus remember the days when companies would hold onto new products and wait for the old Comdex show in Las Vegas in November. Comdex has died and CeBIT is dying – but Computex is still going strong. Thermaltake’s substantial stand in the Nangang event centre had a load of new products, one of which put a smile on KitGuru’s face – a brand new, top of the range PSU.
