The Tomcat i915 (S5120) is one of Tyan's latest Socket 775 system boards. With the recent jump to the PCI Express graphics platform, we decided it was time to hop aboard the tech. train and see what PCI-e is all about. The Tomcat comes packed with a plethora of features including: integrated Intel GMA900 graphics core (224MB of memory possible), up to 4GB of unbuffered single/dual-channel DDR400 memory, Serial ATA RAID, a 10/100 Ethernet port and optional Gigabit port, built-in audio and 1394a FireWire. Today we will equip the Tomcat with an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 (540), a HIS X600 XT PCI-e graphics card and pit it against our Athlon 64 3200, ATI 9800 Pro system.
