AMD France Lists Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, Cinebench Score

AMD France had accidentally published some information regarding the Threadripper 2990WX early: a Guru of 3D forum member was able to screencap an earlier version of the site, which listed a Cinebench score of 5099 for the 32-core part. Comparatively, Intel's 18-core i9 7980XE achieved a score of 3,335.

ASUS Prime X470-PRO Motherboard Review

When it comes to ASUS motherboards you have quite a lot of choices, many users opt for their Republic of Gamers boards, but their Prime line is actually quite good. We’ve used a “Prime” motherboard as our baseline board for processor testing for both Intel and AMD for the past couple of years. These boards might not have all of the flash that the ROG series does, but they are extremely reliable and are still packed with features. For the Ryzen refresh the main “Prime” board from ASUS is their Prime X470-PRO. This board features a slick design with silver heatsinks and an integrated M.2 cooler as well. You also have support for DDR4 3466 MHz memory, USB 3.1, dual M.2 slots, and even some RGB lighting. Is this the board you need for your Ryzen build? Read on as we find out!

Asus ROG Strix X299-E Gaming ATX Motherboard Review

Those with 28-PCIe-lane CPUs and lots of components should look elsewhere. But buyers with 44-lane chips should consider the ROG Strix x299-E.

The idea of a $300 board being mainstream might sound ludicrous, but entry-level X299 boards cost around $200, and Intel’s high-end desktop series is designed for big spenders. Mid-level might be a better term for this price, and the Asus ROG Strix X299-E Gaming (which sells for at or just under $300 when we wrote this) gets there with a combination of dual USB 3.1 Gen2 controllers, a 867Gb/s Wi-Fi module, enhanced overclocking and competitive RGB lighting features.

Corsair STRAFE RGB MK.2 Review

The STRAFE RGB MK.2 arrives at a price point very similar to the K70 RGB MK.2 that we reviewed last week, and also seems to share a lot of the same attributes, so we’ll delve into that a little deep and see why they’re similar in so many ways, and more importantly, find out what’s different.

Our STRAFE RGB MK.2 sample is equipped with the Cherry MX Silent key switches and plenty of other gamer-friendly features, such as Full N-Key Rollover, 1000Hz polling, read on for an in-depth look.

Kingston A1000 NVMe 240GB SSD Review

This is the Kingston A1000 M.2 drive, its second M.2 NVMe SSD. This is a 2280 form factor PCIe Gen 3.0 240 GB NVMe M.2 SSD. For a flash drive based company, Kingston is rather reserved with the releases of NVMe drives in M.2 factors, unlike Samsung and other brands. Kingston has the KC1000 and that’s it! But KC1000 is labelled as Native NVMe while A1000 is labelled as entry-level PCIe NVMe.

NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 Router Review

NETGEAR has launched a new Nighthawk Pro Gaming lineup of networking products, beginning with the XR500 router. With DumaOS powering it as a firmware with gaming-centric features, including geo-filtering, and a strong suite of other features accompanying it (VPN, media server, remote access), the Nighthawk XR500 is a gaming product that does live up to the moniker.

After the review of the Orbi Wi-Fi system went live, I was initially considering covering other company products before getting back to NETGEAR. But it just so happened that products announced at CES were coming to market in various regions, and I was asked if I could cover another NETGEAR product right after. This one happens to be different enough in intended application from the Orbi that I agreed, partly also because I had personally seen it at CES. NETGEAR is a massive brand in the networking field to where they are able to create new divisions to address the needs of the market. As such, 2018 saw their new Nighthawk PRO Gaming division which has a specific, new set of networking products introduced. Perhaps, it is good research from their part, seeing how a "gaming" branded product can be seen as more lucrative if the past few years of PC DIY products have shown us anything, but NETGEAR tells us there is more to the eye than the name suggests, and that the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 router more than merits the moniker. Time to put it through the paces then, and thanks again to NETGEAR for providing a review sample to TechPowerUp.

NZXT E850 850W Gold Rated Power Supply Review

NZXT is without a doubt one of the most fashionable names in computer designs and components. Perhaps best known for their chassis designs, their components speak of a quality design and strong bold presentation. When it comes to power supplies though, it can be a bit tricky making them fit in with the NZXT design. No matter how hard you try, it can be difficult trying to make power supplies look good. At least, not without risking the ‘pig in make-up’ effect.

If anyone can pull this off though, it’s NZXT.

As such, we take a look at the brand new NZXT E850 power supply. Packing 850w at a reported gold efficiency, this power supply should be perfect for nearly any gaming or workhouse system. In addition, this fully-modular power supply is also provided to be compatible with CAM software which allows unique control over power management while providing you with a lot of information about your system.

Top 5 AMD B450 Motherboards

With the first AMD B450 motherboards just popping up, truth be told, there aren't that many good ones to choose from, certainly not nearly as many as we'd like and not as many as there could be. Asus and Gigabyte options are somewhat disappointing so far, Asrock has done a decent job, but it's MSI who really turned things around. We hope these picks will help narrow down your search for the perfect B450 motherboard.

Xtrfy H1 Pro Gaming Headset Review

It's a headset from Xtrfy made in collaboration with Ninjas in Pyjamas - but is it any good? Working in collaboration with Ninjas in Pyjamas, Xtrfy brings their H1 Pro gaming headset to the table that has been “Optimized for gaming”. It’s really cool to see pros developing products that work best for them but with an initial release price of £149.99, you would expect more varied use than just esports gaming.

With such a targeted use case how do they fare for the average user?
