AMD Press Talks Up Major Open-Source Linux Driver Features, But Fails

Good news: AMD's press / global communications team is finally talking up their open-source Linux graphics driver features. Bad news: they appear to still need lots of training over their own Linux graphics drivers. Or is there some Linux driver shake-up happening? Here's some of what they are promoting right now with the AMD Linux graphics driver.

I was contacted on Monday afternoon by a member of AMD's global communications team to learn about their "recent driver developments from the Linux side of the house....Of late, we’ve committed the following changes to the X.ORG ‘radeon’ repository—our open source driver."

Dishonored 2-Years Later Reviewed

Is Dishonored a game still worth playing, or can it be left in the past? As much as I have criticized it, it is an enjoyable game and is still worth playing. The story is good and its action-adventure gameplay is also of good quality. It does lack some polish in the details and I would never classify it as a stealth game, but it is still a solid game. I would recommend Dishonored to anyone looking for a good action-adventure game that offers at least as much adventure as action. If you are looking for a game you can really creep and stalk around in, this is not what you want, but there are plenty of other titles I could suggest.

Gamdias Hephaestus Review

Hephaestus from Gamdias is a gaming headset that packs interesting and uncommon features. At a first glance, build quality appears to be good and hopefully the sound is also going to convice. Other than that the Hephaestus, uses a 7.1 virtual surround and a new system called "Vibration Recognizer of Blast Source" to support very low bass. Overall we're rather curious to see if Gamidas is able to convince us or not.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750Ti Windforce Edition Review

I am not the kind of guy that would be called an “early adopter” but, at the same time, when there is something game changing out, I feel like I need to have it. Cell phones are a good example, I am still rocking my Samsung Galaxy SIII and have no intentions of upgrading anytime soon, even though my contract is up in a few short days. I guess it is the simple fact that I don’t like to have to deal with bad design and, much like yourself, I often like to read some reviews before I purchase a big ticket item. However, that Samsung Galaxy S5 is sure looking mighty fine and I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one when they become available.

When we talk about game changing in the computer industry, you can consistently look at a product release cycle and see that there usually is a small bump and then a larger bump. In this release, we are looking at an Nvidia Maxwell based GPU and this could be that big bump we are waiting for in the graphics market. With a major focus on power efficiency, the GM107 based 750Ti has the opportunity to kick some butt in the budget market and shows the potential for the Maxwell architecture.

Gigabyte P34G Review

If you're in the market for a gaming laptop, you're already prepared to spend over a thousand bucks. But what you get for that premium price is key, whether it's a sleek system or a budget-friendly frag machine. Gigabyte falls far on the latter end of that spectrum with its new 14-inch gaming laptop, the P34G. With a graphite-colored aluminum lid adorned with a Gigabyte logo in chrome, the P34G is off to a solid start, with an understated look. Open the sturdy double hinge, and a base cut from the same metal as the lid – but in a silver hue – shows itself. That's where the design falls apart.Opening the lid also reveals a thick bezel crafted from a cheap-looking (and feeling) plastic surrounding the matte, 1080p panel. Before I photographed the device, both the palmrest and bezel were riddled with garish stickers.That said, I was drawn to the spun metal power button beset by chrome fan intake grilles – not speaker grilles – just beneath the screen.

Intel Core i5-4440 (22nm Haswell) Review

Is this the best sub-$200 chip? There are few better feelings in technology than choosing parts for a new PC build, purchasing them, and then laying them down on the table ready for build time.

It's long been argued that PCs offer a better user experience than high-end tablets or the latest consoles. Truth is, you don't have to spend a great deal in order to build a decent PC that's both a capable workhorse and willing gaming machine.

AMD believes the way to go is to opt for one of its new Kaveri-based Accelerated Processing Units (APU). Baking in four cores and cutting-edge graphics seems like a good recipe for success, particularly with the emphasis on value, yet the premier A10-7850K, priced at £130, can leave a little to be desired on the CPU front.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 / 750 Ti review: the first Maxwell Generation GPUs

On Februari 18th, Nvidia introduced the GeForce GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti, two affordable new video cards. What makes this introduction particularly interesting is that both GTX 750 variants are the first to feature a chip from the new Maxwell generation. This made us especially curious about their performance.

Nvidia promises that Maxwell will deliver an enormous increase in efficiency and claims that the GM107 chip, on which the new cards are based, is a particularly good fit for modern PCs, such as laptops and small Mini-ITX systems. In this review, we will discuss the new Maxwell architecture and extensively study the performance of these two new video cards.
