PC Stats has put up an USB 2.0 External Media Bay review
There are still just a handful of USB2.0 products available on the marketplace, but one device which caught our interest recently is this generic USB2.0 External Media Bay. The box actually comes in a variety of flavours, and will no doubt be available under a half dozen manufacturer names, but what it does is actually useful (for a generic media bay anyway). The simple beige box has a small circuit board with an In System chipset that converts ATA66 IDE to USB 2.0. Either a 5.25 or a 3.5 IDE device can be hooked up, and in the case of a hard drive, there is even space at the front for a small (and almost useless) fan. In the vacuum that exists before the flood of USB 2.0 devices arrive to market, the Generic MAP-K51U is an ugly alternative with a lot of versatility that gets the job done.Read more
