The Inquirer posted a news story that Slashdot ran a poll Tuesday evening asking "If Windows 7 Releases Next Year...?"

First, only a small subset of about six per cent are either satisfied with Vista or ready to assume they'll upgrade to Microsoft's next major release of Windows.

Second, 27 per cent are happy to stick with XP, which indicates that they won't be upgrading to Vista, and specifically that they won't upgrade to Windows 7. Having burned its customer base once with Vista, Microsoft has alienated more than a quarter of these poll respondents such that they assume that they won't want to install its next OS release. That's one problem with abusing customers.
