As all of us know, USB gives you a maximum of 480MBps of transfer rate. Although it is fast, it is still not as fast as having a direct connection to a HDD which runs up to 3Gbps. With the eSATA port connected to mainboards with SATA II connections, it can attain a speed up to 3Gbps just like what it does within your PC Case.
