VIA Hardware has posted a preview on the VIA/S3 Graphics SuperSavage.
Times, however, are changing. Both ATI and NVidia are locked in a bitter battle for the high end of the desktop, and have brought that battle to the laptop as well. ATI introduced the Mobility 128 in October of 1999, and claimed to be the first to offer "a competitive 3D experience on a laptop." However, the S3 Savage IX/MX was the first true product capable of running Quake-3 caliber games at above 30 frames per second. Released way back in early 1999, the Savage IX/MX has been very successful in the mobile arena, capturing roughly 20% of the traditionally ATI dominated market.Read more
