FullOn3D has posted a preview of VIA´s Samuel 2 600 MHz Cyrix III core. It was benchmarked against an older Celeron 450 (overclocked 300A).
Centaur enhanced the Samuel design by adding 64Kb L2 cache to create Samuel 2, the new Cyrix III. The new Cyrix III will be released at frequencies of 700Mhz+ and is manufactured on a 0.15 micron process. Samuel 2 requires 1.5V while Samuel 1 requires 1.9/2.0V. Like the Samuel 1, Samuel 2 features 12 pipeline stages. The Samuel 2´s die size is a small 52 square millimeters, compares to 75 for Samuel 1 and 100 for the Celeron.Read more
