Thanks to Chad Marris for forwarding the follow email from Visioneer to me:

Thank you for your recent email submission.

We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this
has brought you.

With regard to your inquiry, here is the official roadmap for Windows 2000:

We expect to have a solution available for the following scanners to work
with Windows 2000.
OneTouch 8600
OneTouch 8100
OneTouch 7600 USB
Strobe Pro (USB Only)

To get the scanners to work it requires a new CD with updated applications
as well as drivers. This would be way too large to download (i.e. 600 MB).
Customer service will have new CDs available after May 29th for a nominal
$9.99 shipping and handling fee. New products in stores after July 1st will
include the Windows 2000 solution on the CD. We have not yet announced but
several upcoming scanners will ship with Windows 2000 drivers in the box
including:
Visioneer 6200 USB (FCS May 1)
OneTouch 8650 (FCS June 1)

We are reviewing our other units to see about Windows 2000 support, but if
it is not on that list it is not a prime candidate for Win 2K support.

The following scanners will definitely not get a Windows 2000 driver.
Sheetfeds: PaperPort VX, MX, IX, Strobe, Strobe Pro Serial
Flatbeds: 3000, 3100, 3100B, 3100 USB, 6000, 6000A,
6000B, 6100
OneTouches: Original OneTouch, OneTouch 5300

Our sincerest apologies again for the inconvenience this has brought you.
Feel free to contact us again through our web.

Thank you once again for your patience and patronage.

Sincerely,

Rowena
