PCinsight has followed up their review on the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP with some performance numbers using a couple of new driver sets.
Just a few days before posting up the Voodoo5 5500 AGP review, Wicked3D (the PC gaming and 3D graphics technology division of Metabyte Inc) released their new version of the infamous WickedGL MiniGL driver (dt. 09/22/00) for 3dfx´s Voodoo4/5 accelerators. According to Wicked3D, their MiniGL provides for better visual quality, high tolerance to heavy rendering loads and extra acceleration for high resolution gaming.Read more
3dfx also released a new driver-- version 1.03.00. In this driver release, 3dfx has added a few more options such as refresh optimization (this option locks the refresh rate to 75Hz, which decreases the necessary memory bandwidth for the refresh of the display), geometry assist (this feature should provide better performance on geometry complex conditions) and AA demo Key (this helps us switch on/off FSAA during game play).
