Gamecenter has posted a shoot out between the Voodoo5 5500 and the GeForce2 GTS. Here a snippet:



3dfx used to be the 800-pound gorilla of the 3D graphics market. Its revolutionary one-two punch of the Voodoo graphics chipset followed by the Voodoo2--complete with scanline interleave (SLI) capability--won the hearts of gamers everywhere. You could actually hear the PR reps yelling, "We´re king of the world!" as they rode along on the bow of 3dfx´s success. That is, until Nvidia showed up and boldly slept in the 800-pound gorilla´s bed.

The TNT line won over a huge percentage of gamers, and the GeForce 256 pounded nails aplenty into the coffins of Nvidia´s competitors. Now, as the GeForce2 GTS is busy winning accolades and awards, 3dfx has countered with the Voodoo5 5500 AGP, the first of its new Voodoo4/5 products, hoping to reclaim its throne.
