AMD Gonzalo APU Could Feature 8 Zen Cores and Navi Graphics

Twitter user APISAK is back with another rumor, and this time, it seems to be about a potential upcoming AMD APU. As usual, it's not clear where the information is coming from, but the Twitter user apparently found a device with model name "AMD 2G16002CE8JA2_32/10/10_13E9." APISAK, KOMACHI_ENSAKA, and ComputerBase.de all took a shot at trying to decode that name using AMD's previous naming schemes, and , and they believe it represents a 8 core APU with a 1.6Ghz base clockspeed, a 3.6Ghz boost speed, a Zen + or Zen 2 architecture, and a "Navi 10 Lite" GPU.

Aorus AD27QD Review

Look past the RGB lighting as there's more to this gaming monitor than first meets the eye. Eyebrows were raised when Gigabyte first announced plans to form a new subsidiary dedicated exclusively to high-end gaming products, but credit where it's due, in the space of five years Aorus has become a serious player in a lucrative market. The firm's success has been built around products with a clear gaming focus, and we've been happy to recommend various Aorus graphics cards and motherboards in recent years.

Hoping to keep the momentum going, 2019 sees the launch of the first Aorus gaming monitor, the AD27QD Tactical Display. True to form, this 27in panel has a few tricks up its sleeve to help differentiate itself as a gaming solution first and foremost, and we've been able to spend the last week putting it through its paces.

Apple Beddit 3.5 Sleep Monitor Review

Apple in 2017 purchased Beddit, a company that makes a sleep monitoring system designed to track your sleeping habits to help you improve your sleep hygiene.

Apple hasn't said much about the purchase, nor what it's doing with the data it collects from the Beddit system, but in December, Apple quietly pulled the original Beddit Sleep System and introduced a redesigned model with an updated and revised feature set.

There have been quite a few complaints about the new 3.5 version of the Beddit Sleep Monitor (and its accompanying app) because it removes some functionality that was available with the first model Apple offered. I've been using the original Beddit since 2017, so I decided to check out the new model to see how it compares.

Asus Strix Fusion 700 Wireless Headset Review

Today, we review the fourth product in the Asus ROG Fusion headset lineup. Sharing the exact same chassis and pedigree as its cousins, the Fusion Wireless naturally boasts the lack of wires feature to distinguish it from the regular 500's. There is, however, more than meets the eye going on under the hood, and it's safe to say that this headset is perhaps the most surprising product I have reviewed in 2018.

Blackmagic eGPU Pro Review

After several delays, the Blackmagic eGPU Pro is now available for purchase at Apples online and retail store locations. The Pro version of Blackmagics external graphics chassis is an upgraded version of 2018s initial release.
The original Blackmagic eGPU was a limited device for several key reasons: it was expensive at $699; it couldnt be upgraded; and with Radeon Pro 580 graphics, it lacked the punch of higher powered cards. Some of those problems carry over with the release of the new Blackmagic eGPU Pro, but its unquestionably a better device than its predecessor. Watch our hands-on video review for the full lowdown.

Bloody MP-60R Mouse Pad & SP80 Mouse Review

The V8 Headshot mouse was my main tool of for almost five years and was possibly the best mouse I had ever used, specifically because of how the Bloody's metal mouse feet kept gliding across my mouse pads. After half a decade of use, my mouse stopped working properly. Bloody's SP80 Bleeding Edge Gaming Mouse follows in its footsteps along with their RGB-infused gaming mouse pad. However - are they worth the cost?

EKWB Classic RGB Lineup Review

Like just about every other product on the market, RGB has been popping up in the water cooling market for a while now. It started on Monoblocks and EK even had it on their new Velocity line of water blocks. But their Supremacy water blocks have mostly been lacking with the exception of the Threadripper block. But at CES this year they have introduced their new lineup called the Classic RGB. They characterize it as “minimalistic and clean while maintaining class-leading performance”. That explains the Classic part of the name, but the second half also indicates that the new lineup has also added RGB lighting as well. I’ve actually had most of the components in the office to check out and now that the cat is out of the bag I can share them with everyone. So today I’m going to check them out and do a little testing as well.

Quick Look: Using WD's Black SN750 SSD as a Thunderbolt 3 External Drive

External SSDs with a Thunderbolt 3 interface are still the only option for users looking to get high-end performance in a bus-powered portable device. These SSDs have become possible due to the emergence of NVMe drives in the compact M.2 form-factor, which are fully capable of saturating the Thunderbolt 3 interface, never mind slower interfaces like 10Gbps USB 3.x.

The TEKQ Rapide was one of the first Thunderbolt 3 external SSD that we reviewed. Since it was fairly easy to disassemble, we also presented some benchmarks of a DIY Thunderbolt 3 SSD using the TEKQ enclosure and a SanDisk Extreme Pro M.2 NVMe 3D SSD. Now, since we happen to have Western Digitals WD Black SN750 SSD in, we decided it would be interesting to take a look at the new drive in a similar scenario.

System Guide: January 2019 edition

Welcome to TR's January 2019 System Guide. This is where the TR staff picks out the créme de la créme of hardware components fit for the most price-effective builds around. We've tried to create builds across a wide range of price points with parts that provide the best performance possible for the money. However, we don't just ferret out the cheapest components possible or compromise configurations to hit arbitrary price points. Indeed, these are the systems we'd build for ourselves, given the money. From our cheapest build to our most expensive (or the second-most expensive, at least), you can rest easy knowing that we've done the hard work of balancing the need for performance against the curve of diminishing returns.

WD Black SN750 1TB Review

The Western Digital Black line of products has been around for years and it has always been reserved for WDs fastest consumer products. So two years ago they introduced their first NVMe drive and then last year WD refreshed that same model to an even faster design. The refresh caused some confusion though because the model name didn’t change so you will find that labeled as the WD Black NVMe 2018. Well, they haven’t been leaving things alone. WD has a new NVMe drive but this time to prevent confusion they have added a model number. So the new drive is called the WD Black SN750. This is also going along with a new push for the Black line to be their gaming lineup, so today I’m going to check out the new drive and see what is different and how it performs. Last years model was already fast, so it will be interesting to see if they managed to improve on that at all.

WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD Review

Western Digital today is launching the latest version of its Black-series NVMe SSDs. Like its predecessor, the WD Black SN750 is targeted at gamers, introducing a new "Gaming Mode" that tunes the drive to favor performance over power efficiency.

The drive will be available in two variants — one including a heatsink and one without — in capacities up to 2TB. Western Digital worked with cooling experts EK to design the heatsink.

We had a brief time to review the 1TB non-heatsink model and have some initial performance results to share.

Western Digital's new Black SN750 comes with the same hardware as the previous-gen model, but the company revamped the firmware to extract as much performance as possible. Western Digital’s new Black SN750 NVMe SSD is ready to take on the fastest drives on the market with a new brand image, an updated SSD dashboard with a new gaming mode, and performance-boosting firmware tweaks to the existing hardware configuration.

WD My Passport Wireless SSD Review

Western Digital is one of the world’s largest storage manufacturers with a wide array of products to meet their customer's unique needs. Its My Passport Wireless line of external drives offer more than just convenient storage. With on-board Wi-Fi, battery, and SD card readers, WD bills them as working photographer’s best friend. That certainly sounds like a common use case for a device like this, but will this latest WD My Passport live up to its promise?

Western Digital Black SN750 SSD Review

Western Digital and manufacturing partner Toshiba have talked about the benefits of 96-layer TLC (BiCS4) for some time now. Toshiba just announced its second product to use the new memory, BG4, while Western Digital has largely ignored the new media's availability.

Western Digital WD Black SN750 SSD Review

Last year Western Digital overhauled their WD Black NVMe SSD with an upgrade to 3D NAND and a new in-house SSD controller, transforming the product line from one of the slowest NVMe drives to one of the top high-end competitors. Now the third generation WD Black SSD is here, with the model number SN750 to avoid confusion with its predecessors. (Internally, last years model was known as the SN700, and the OEM version was the SN720.) The new WD Black SN750 is an incremental update over last years model, keeping the same basic controller and 64L 3D NAND combination but refining the firmware and adding a 2TB option. Western Digital is also shifting their marketing efforts more toward gamers with the addition of SKUs featuring a large heatsink.
