Microsoft has released KB5043131 (OS Build 19045.4957) Preview for Windows 10 22H2. The update addresses critical issues such as relocating profile images and adding a new background color to the left pane of the menu.

It also addresses issues with Microsoft Edge occasionally not responding when in IE mode and media playback freezing when using particular surround sound technology. The non-security update includes quality enhancements such as upgrading COSA profiles for certain mobile carriers, stopping Windows servers from responding while using File Explorer and the taskbar, and resolving issues with directory enumeration and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

  • [Start menu] New! This update moves your profile picture to different positions. There is also a new background color for the left pane on the menu. This color change makes the items on the pane stand out more. This change might not be available to all users because it will roll out gradually.

  • [Media playback] Playback of some media might stop when you use certain surround sound technology.
