Case Mod Friday: Project Core P3

This week's build comes from Modder Crow, who we've featured here before.  He has taken the Thermaltake Core P3 and really turned it into something unique.  Out of all the Core P5 and Core P3 mods we've seen this has to be my favorite.  Just great craftsmanship and who does not like the green and black color design!  This is one you should definitely check out!

Cooler Master Masterbox 5t Chassis Review

Cooler Master has been on a winning streak with their chassis’ for quite some time now. Since they relaunched their brand with the “Make it Yours” motto, we’ve seen award-winning products hit the market one after the other. Now they’re back again with something a little more budget focused, targeted at the PC gaming market who want to build a high-end system, but also have something that’s a little more unique and aggressive compared to their Master Case series.

Featuring an aggressive two-tone black and red theme, the Masterbox 5t should appeal to those who soaked up the masses of black and red themed hardware from brands like Asus and MSI, although certainly not limited to only those. Why is it called 5t you might ask? Why it stands for TURBO of course! Not sure why, but it sounds exciting and likely relates to the unique two-tone design. Some other welcome Cooler Master features make a return here too, with a durable carry handle built right into the top of the chassis, which is capable of supporting 30KG of weight, so more than enough for lugging your system with you at LAN gaming events, and there’s even a fan controller thrown in for good measure.

With support for ATX motherboards, a decent amount of storage, large expansion cards and more, it’s certainly capable of housing a decent rig. Add to that the extensive fan mounts, as well as having room for 240/280/360mm radiators in the front, and we’re on our way to having a high-performance gaming PC.

Cooler Master MasterBox 5T Review

Inside, there is a spacious layout which lends itself to being able to host flagship air CPU coolers and high-performance graphics cards. Cooler Master also include two 120mm fans which utilise a two-speed fan controller.

Cooler Master MasterCase Maker 5t Review

One of the sexiest cases money can buy. But we are talking a lot of money. The MasterCase branding seems to be getting clunkier with each new release - Cooler Master MasterCase Maker 5t hardly rolls off the tongue - yet the chassis looks a lot better than it sounds. Visually it's a treat for the eyes, with the dark, edgy and aggressive appearance making it one of the most attractive cases on the market.

What's new for the 5 Turbo (or 5t for short) is a two-tone colour scheme that adds red elements to the standard black. The same effect was recently applied to the MasterBox 5t, yet while that case didn't quite win us over, the red accents on the MasterCase Maker 5t work surprisingly well. There's just enough to add a hint of sportiness without spoiling the aesthetic, and the red paintwork looks great in the flesh thanks to small metallic flakes that sparkle under direct light.

Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA Chassis Review

With its aggressive, angular fascia – and a name to match – the Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA is certainly a case that grabs your attention. While the SPEC-ALPHA does have an emphasis on its ‘modern’ styling, Corsair are also keen to point out the range of features included with the case – including a 3-speed fan controller, 2x 120mm LED fans and support for up to four SSDs.

Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard Review

Razer is one of the biggest names in the world when it comes to gaming, having created many award-winning products over the years, such as their mechanical keyboards, gaming headsets, mice and more. They’ve ever made successful moves into systems, mobile technology and systems. Now they’re getting back to keyboards with the release of the Ornata Chroma, which aims to innovate the switch market with its Mecha-Membrane technology.

Love them or hate them, Razer has always been one for innovation, from unique mouse designs to their own mechanical switches, they’re usually working on something to shake up an otherwise repetitive part of the market. Their new Mecha-Membrane switches are not to be confused with plunger switch or any other cheaper alternative, these are far more on the mech than they are on the membrane side of switch design, with a ruthless focus on shaving down your reaction times and improving gaming performance.

Samsung SSD750 EVO 500GB Review

The one thing that was missing from Samsung’s range of SSD’s was a low price value oriented drive. This has been rectified by the arrival of the SSD750 EVO product line. To keep production costs and therefore the cost of the drive down, Samsung has forsaken the 3D V-NAND of the last few drive ranges and gone back to 2D Planer NAND.

SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX v3

Most of you know the saying “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Well when it comes to trinkets and other cool stuff, 3d printers are the same. You Can buy small items or you can print your own cool stuff. Early this year I did just that. I covered SeeMeCNC’s new at the time Eris and even well past my coverage I had one and then later two printers running all of the time in the office. I was having a blast but I really needed to go BIGGER. Well, a few months ago they sent over their new v3 model of their Rostock MAX, the big guy. With vacation and everything it took me a little while to get going, but I have been running the printer for a long time now and it’s about time I sit down and tell everyone about my experience with SeeMeCNC’s new printer. You might want to get comfortable, this might be a long one.

Streacom BC1 Open Benchtable Review: Open-Source Open-Air PC Building Done Right

Overclockers and frequent PC builders alike can appreciate the advantages of having an open air case for testing. These make component swapping a breeze for comparisons and provide a flexible platform for checking a build before installing it inside a tight case.

Streacom BC1’s primary goal is portability. Every piece of it connects and stows away securely inside the frame - screws, legs, risers, everything.

And, as its name implies, the BC1’s design is actually open-source which affords several key advantages...
