Gigabyte GTX 1070Ti Gaming OC 8G Review

When I first heard of the GTX 1070Ti, my first thought was that it is a more of a rumor than anything else. AMD’s launch of their Vega 10 architecture based cards the Vega 64 and the cut down version the Vega 56 have seen quite a stir in the market. AMD somehow managed to enter into the price fiasco with their latest hardware. While the specs of the Vega cards are whopping, they actually could not live up to the expectations. The Vega 64 could not meet or beat the Nvidia’s flagship GTX 1080Ti so much so that it even struggles to keep up with the GTX 1080. Not to mention that Pascal architecture is more than a year old when the cards based on the Vega 10 architecture were released.
It seems like Nvidia felt that the Vega 56 has the potential to take the mid to high-end market segment by taking over the popular GTX 1070 in that segment. Initial benchmarks have shown the mix results when it comes to the Vega 56 and the GTX 1070. Nonetheless, the Vega 56 was able to disturb the commanding position in that market segment and is initially announced price of $399 was too good to nail the competition.

Heres a first look at the battery life of HP's Ryzen-powered Envy x360

My initial tests of AMD's Ryzen 5 2500U APU gave us a fine picture of the APU's performance, but we admittedly didn't test battery life in that initial article. Part of the reason for that omission was to avoid drawing unfair comparisons between the 15.6" HP Envy x360 that plays host to the Ryzen 5 2500U and the 14" Acer Swift 3 machines we used to represent Intel's Core i5-8250U.

Although the jump in screen size might not sound large on paper, the practical effects of the Ryzen system's bigger screen on battery life are likely quite significant. Getting the same light output from a bigger panel requires more power, as just one variable, and the HP system also has a pen digitizer in its LCD panel with unclear power-management characteristics.

There has been little to no coverage of these new components, and their target market might not seem clear. However, we know a few things; the Compute Card will take over Intel's Compute Stick's legacy, and it's designed to offer affordable upgrade paths in the future. That means, the card will act as a replaceable brain inside different machines, with a standardized mounting system and connector array, you should be able to pop in and out Compute Cards to easily upgrade existing devices. Not only is that great news for industries, but also for small business, and dare I say, home users alike. Having used the card before writing the introduction to this review, I have to say, I didn't expect the card to be a quick and nimble as it was, it gives the Compute Stick a run for its money, but it's not all fun and games.

Patriot Viper LED DDR-3200 16GB Memory Kit Review

Back in the sweet spot for many users, we now have a set of memory with speeds which are more attainable on just about any system running DDR4. In this new series from Patriot, we are shown that there are two choices in LED illumination. Buyers can choose from red LEDs or white LEDs, and these kits range in speeds, with 2400MHz, 2666MHz, 3000MHz, and 3200MHz kits are available with the red LEDs, while the white LED versions omit the 2666MHz option and offer a 3600MHz kit instead. That being said, they all conform to a more standard approach to the XMP 2.0 profile, with voltages ranging from 1.20V on the two lower speed kits, and 1.35V used for the kits at 3000MHz and beyond. Patriot has sent the new Viper LED RAM for us to tinker with and deliver a verdict on it. Specifically, we have the PVL416G3200C6K kit, which boasts a speed of 3200MHz, has timings of 16-18-18-36 2T and uses 1.35V to power the sticks and the LEDs. These limited lifetime guaranteed sticks employ an XMP 2.0 profile, which means they are pretty much plug-and-play in any Intel system utilizing DDR4. Pricing of said kits ranges from just $134.99 for the 2400MHz kits but does break the $200 barrier to obtain the 3200MHz RAM we are going to show you here.

Thermaltake Versa C23 TG RGB Case Review

Whether you are a fan or not, there is no denying that Thermaltake has to be one of the biggest manufacturers of PC related components. Not only are they on the Global market, they also have sub-brands such as Tt eSports and Luxa which continue to allow them to expand on their wide-range of products they have to offer. Thermaltake has recently been releasing loads of new products as they do, a lot of which currently feature RGB LEDs. Lighting aside, Thermaltake is also big on offering products geared towards modders and those looking to completely show off their internal PC components. Today, we will be taking a look at the Versa C23 RG TG which is one of the new cases they have released.
As the name suggests, the case features RGB Lighting and Tempered Glass (TG) which are currently two of the bigger trends in the case/chassis market. The Versa C23 RGB TG is a Mid Tower and is compatible with ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX motherboard. There is also plenty of enough room for some cooling upgrades which can include up to 5x 120mm fans or some custom liquid cooling gear. Those looking to go the LCS route will be happy to know you can fit 2x 240mm and a 120mm radiator in the case alongside a host of different sizes tubing and reservoirs. All in all, the Versa C23 RGB TG looks like a decent case but does it live up to our expectations? Let’s find out!
