There was once a time when Microsoft planned to join the two Windows Operating Systems into one by the year 2000. Unfortunately, the valiant souls attempting to fulfill this goal were frozen by the overwhelming task at hand. Thus delaying the project (code named Whistler) until 2001. As a result, we are trapped with two different Windows, one aimed at the workstation/server market, and the other aimed at the home/consumer market.
