WinStyles is a radically new program that converges most of the common ways users customize their desktops into a single interface and format. It is the part of Object Desktop that lets users create a single desktop environment from a centralized and unified interface.

Windows comes with the ability to have themes. These themes are very limited, however. They can change a handful of icons, some colors, sounds, and your wallpaper. That's about it. WinStyles extends this to create a new theme format we call XPThemes. WinStyles uses XPThemes to allow Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT, and XP to be able to completely change the look and feel in Windows. It does this by extending the Windows theme concept to support not just the bundled Microsoft programs but third party customization programs as well. The result is that an XPTheme can change your wallpaper, icons, colors but also change your WInAmp skin, Windows Media Player skin, WindowBlinds skin, CursorXP, and much more. The net result is users can get all these different programs to work together in harmony as if they too were bundled as part of Windows.
