Drivers 2920 Published by

Anthony send words that Hauppauge has released an early-beta version of WinTV-PVR drivers for Windows 2000:

"We are pleased to announce that we now have an Early-beta version ofWinTV-PVR drivers for Windows 2000; these drivers should also be useable onWin98SE or WinME.

We have NOT tested with Windows XP (Whistler) yet; your mileage may vary.

This Update is installed ON TOP of the standard 3.07 Win2000 drivers VFW drv 3.07.19001 and x:wintv2kWintv2k.exe from the WinTV-PVR Installation CD. You must load them first; and you should be able to at least get video on Win2000 (you might not get audio without the PVR update, don´t panic). If you don´t get at least video; installing the PVR update probably won´t help. Please DO NOT waste your time on NT4; the PVR won´t work there now, and never will.

[NOTE: For Win98/SE/ME you should be able to just install this over your previous PVR installation.]

Install WinTV-PVR drivers 1.4.19068; and reboot.

Windows will do it´s little Plug and Play dance; and then, hopefully, you should be able to use WinTV2000 and the PVR functions just like on Win98/ME.

Check back often, we expect updates in the next few days. Better still, unless you MUST HAVE this right now, why not wait a few days for the dust to settle.

Please send any comments, issues (other than the known ones above), etc to Hauppauge WinTV-PVR Bug Report; this is a separate inbox for issues related to the PVR. We don´t mind hearing good news and any details on your HW configs is always useful (to us and others testing this driver set).

Please put the word "Beta" in the subject line.

A first step before emailing for technical support would be the following... From "Start MenuProgramsHauppauge WinTV" run "Hauppauge PVR PCI Utility". If the "Altera MC Version" reports "read failure" you can try pressing the "Reset Hardware" button. If the "Altera MC Version" updates to a non failure chances are good the WinTV app will now work properly. If you find yourself in this situation please report you results back to us.

Do not waste your time trying to get support via the normal tech
support phones; please use e-mail!!

Sincerely,
Engineering Department
